Cross-section D-D’ shows that the succession in the Makukulu area is folded with dips of 10-40°, and that it rests uncomformably on the Kibaran Supergroup (Cahen and Mortelmans, 1947). Raucq (1970) suggested that the basin succession in general deepens to the south.]

Lithology and Thickness

The formation is estimated to be about 3900 m – 5500 m thick intercalation of schists and quartzites, the schist dominates (fig. 2 of Delpomdor et al., 2018).

Fossils


Age 

Youngest detrital zircons show U-Pb ages of 1329 ± 32 Ma in the Kataba Conglomerate and of 1360 ± 27 Ma in pink quartzites of the Nzilo Group (Kokonyangi et al., 2006), providing a lower limit to the age of deposition. When combined with intrusives 1.38-1.4 Ga into the underlying Kiaora Fm, then assigned to latest Calymmian (ca. 1420-1400 Ma)
